Hi,

32GB usb flash drive,
Controller = 6690 U2-M6C HLJ71-001C
Flash = 2 x TH58NVG7D2ELA48
This shows up as a generic drive and of 0 bytes.

What is the best method of trying to recover data? I have been googling but need a little help with this.

No datasheets for the above chips located.

Thank you.

Edit: I do not have the readers and am looking for a method to read the flash. Desoldering is the last option preferred.

Sorry. This is a one off effort and i'm only asking if i can use the copper pads next to the flash to read it. If so some guidance will be highly appreciated. I'm a bit wary of heating the flash after reading on the net that bits might get erased or altered. Are my fears uncalled for from your vast experience? Thanks.

Edit: Is the symptom of the "0 bytes" and "generic drive" a problem with the flash or the 6690 chip if this is known issue? And if it is the problem with the 6690 will a new one or a swap from another good usb drive solve the problem?

OK Thank you for the reply. I will try and find the spares.

Does heating the flash during soldering/desoldering cause any bit errors? Any experience or knowledge in this regards?
Thank you.
